Basement floor coatings inCoeur d'Alene, Idaho.
The shop, the crews, and the material all live right here in town. When a North Idaho winter parks you indoors for five months, an unfinished basement is wasted square footage. We grind it, seal it, and hand it back bright.
Long winters make the basement count.
From Dalton Gardens to Athol, families spend half the year inside. A sealed, bright slab turns the coldest room in the house into space you actually use.

Dust, done
Bare concrete sheds fine dust forever. It ends up on the furnace filter, the storage totes, and everything you carry upstairs. Diamond grinding opens the slab, then the polyurea base coat locks it shut. Once the polyaspartic topcoat cures, that floor stops shedding for good. Sweep it, mop it, move on.

Built for lake humidity
Humid summers off Lake Coeur d'Alene put moisture in every basement. We check slab moisture at the free estimate, prep accordingly, and install a system that tolerates it once the concrete is properly ground. No carpet holding damp against the slab, no musty smell working up the stairs.

Bright without a remodel
A dark basement does not need a full finish job to feel livable. A light flake blend or a pale silica color bounces the light you already have. We bring samples to your slab so you pick against your walls and lighting, not a showroom's.
From slab to living space.
Rhino Coatings is headquartered in downtown Coeur d'Alene, which means basement jobs here get same-day quotes and no trip charge. The process is the same one we run on garages: diamond-grind prep, cracks and joints filled with polyurea, a polyurea base coat, hand-broadcast flake or silica to full refusal, then a UV-stable polyaspartic topcoat. It is 4x harder than epoxy and it does not care that it lives below grade.
Most residential basements take one day of install. You walk on it in about 8 hours, so the household disruption is roughly a single workday. Set the treadmill back down, roll the storage shelves in, let the kids claim it. Residential floors carry a lifetime warranty, the price is fixed in writing before we start, and our own crews do the work, no subcontractors.
- Seals concrete dust for good: no more gray film on everything
- Light flake and silica blends brighten a dark basement fast
- Moisture-tolerant system once the slab is properly prepped
- Installed in about a day, cured for foot traffic in about 8 hours

Moisture check and grind
We test the slab at your free estimate, then diamond-grind and fill cracks and joints with polyurea so the system bonds to clean, open concrete.
- 02
Base coat and broadcast
A polyurea base coat, then your flake or silica blend broadcast to full refusal. Light blends do serious work in a basement.

Topcoat, back downstairs
The polyaspartic topcoat cures for foot traffic in about 8 hours, so the basement is out of commission for about a day, not a week.
Basement floor questions in Coeur d'Alene.
My Coeur d'Alene basement smells musty. Can you still coat it?
Usually, yes. We check slab moisture at the free estimate before quoting anything. Once the concrete is diamond-ground and properly prepped, the system is moisture-tolerant, and unlike carpet it gives damp air nothing to soak into. If the slab shows a problem beyond a coating's job, we tell you straight instead of installing over it.
How long is my basement out of commission?
About a day. Most residential basements are ground, coated, and broadcast in a single visit. You can walk on the floor in roughly 8 hours. Full chemical cure takes about 72 hours, so wait a few days before dragging heavy furniture or a loaded gun safe back across it.
Is a coated floor too cold for a North Idaho winter?
The slab is cold either way; the question is what sits on it. Carpet over concrete traps moisture and grows that basement smell. A sealed coating plus an area rug where you want warmth gives you the comfort without the mildew, and you can pull the rug up and wash the floor under it.
Will it hold up under a home gym?
Yes. The system is 4x harder and more abrasion-resistant than epoxy, so racks, benches, and treadmills sit on it without grinding through. For heavy free weights we recommend rubber mats at the drop zone, same as any floor, but everyday plates and equipment feet will not scar it.
What does a basement floor coating cost in Coeur d'Alene?
It depends on square footage and slab condition, so we measure on site for free and hand you a fixed written price. No surprise charges, and no high-pressure pitch in your living room. Because our shop is in Coeur d'Alene, there is no trip charge anywhere from Hayden to Rathdrum. Call 208-500-1043.
