What a North Idaho garage floor has to take, and how the system answers it.
Every winter the tires carry brine, road salt and deicer in from the road. On bare concrete that pits the surface. The polyaspartic topcoat is chemical-resistant, so the puddles wipe up in spring instead of eating the slab.
Slabs move a little with every freeze and thaw, and a rigid film cracks with them. We fill cracks and control joints with polyurea first, and the polyurea base stays flexible, so the floor moves with the concrete.
Detached shops, barns with a concrete floor and oversized garages get the same system as an attached two-car garage. Bigger floors can run past a single day, and the free measure is where we tell you which you have.
The finish is a polyaspartic topcoat over a polyurea base, not epoxy. Every slab is diamond-ground first so the base bonds to open concrete, then flake or silica is broadcast into the base and sealed under the topcoat. The result is more abrasion-resistant than epoxy, UV-stable, and resistant to hot-tire pickup, oil and deicer.

“I got estimates from 3 major floor coating companies in the area. Their prices were remarkably similar (within about 5%) and I was comfortable that all 3 had great reviews and did excellent work. I chose Rhino because it sounded like they used higher end product (polyurea/polyaspartic vs epoxy/polyaspartic) for a bit less $$ than one company. Also their price would include a vapor barrier (if the slab moisture was too high) at no extra cost if needed whereas the other company charged an extra 20% plus if the vapor barrier was needed. Carl did a very meticulous prep of the floor including grinding and filling of cracks and grinding the entire floor for better adhesion. It ended up being a two day job so Carl and Jesus worked most of a Saturday laying down the coating. They were extremely professional, pleasant, clean and meticulous in their work. The end product looks great and very much met/exceeded my expectations.”
