Epoxy floor coatings inSpokane? The pros moved on.
Spokane has a lot of good old houses sitting on tired old slabs, and epoxy is the wrong answer for both. We diamond-grind the concrete honest again, then install a polyurea base with a polyaspartic topcoat: the coating professional installers switched to when epoxy kept coming back up.
Epoxy loses to Spokane winters.
Magnesium chloride on every arterial, hard freezes, and garage slabs that have been moving since before you owned the house. Epoxy fails all three tests.
- 01
Mag chloride residue
The deicer Spokane sprays on its roads rides home on your tires and pools where you park. It wicks into epoxy, clouds it, then lifts it at the edges. Polyaspartic is dense and chemically resistant, so mag chloride sits on the surface until it gets hosed off, no harm done.
- 02
Old slabs, old cracks
A South Hill garage poured decades ago carries cracks, spalls, and paint nobody remembers applying. Epoxy over that fails fast. We grind everything off, fill the cracks and joints with polyurea, and rebuild from clean concrete, so the age of the slab stops being the age of the floor.

Cold-season installs
Epoxy installs practically stop in a Spokane winter because the resin will not cure on cold concrete. Polyaspartic keeps its cure speed across a much wider window, which is how we install year-round from Mead to Cheney and still hand the garage back for parking in about 72 hours.
What we install instead.
The shop is 34 miles east in Coeur d'Alene, and Spokane is not an occasional market for us: crews are on this side of the line every working day. Rhino Coatings is fully licensed in Washington, veteran owned, and staffed by our own installers. There is no job minimum, so a single-car garage near downtown Spokane gets the same attention as an Airway Heights shop.
You pick the finish with samples on your own concrete: 13 flake blends, over 1,700 silica colors. Then it is one day of work for most homes: grind, polyurea crack fill, polyurea base coat, broadcast to full refusal, polyaspartic topcoat. The quote is a fixed written price from a free measure, and residential floors carry a lifetime warranty.
- 4x harder and more abrasion-resistant than epoxy
- UV-stable: epoxy yellows in sunlight, polyaspartic never does
- Cures in hours, not the days an epoxy install ties up your floor
- Resists hot-tire pickup, the classic epoxy failure

One crew, one day, most floors.
The same process on every slab we touch, whether it is next door or across town.
- 01
Grind, never etch
Most epoxy kits rely on acid etching. We diamond-grind the concrete instead, the prep step that decides whether any coating lives or dies.
- 02
Polyurea, not epoxy resin
The base coat is polyurea: stronger adhesion and more flexibility than epoxy resin, with your flake or silica broadcast into it to full refusal.
- 03
Polyaspartic armor on top
A UV-stable polyaspartic topcoat cures in hours, not days. It is the layer that shrugs off hot tires, oil, and sun where epoxy fails.
Epoxy vs polyaspartic questions in Spokane.
If I ask for epoxy, what will you tell me?
That we do not install epoxy, and never have. We install the upgrade: a polyurea base coat sealed with a UV-stable polyaspartic topcoat, about 4x harder than epoxy, flexible through freeze-thaw, and cured for vehicles in about 72 hours. Epoxy is the floor this system was engineered to replace.
Are you actually licensed in Washington?
Yes, fully licensed for Washington work, and Spokane is a daily stop rather than a stretch. Crews out of our Coeur d'Alene shop cover everything from South Hill to Airway Heights all year long. Call 208-500-1043 for a free on-site measure with a fixed written price.
My slab is older than I am and looks it. Can it still be coated?
Almost certainly. Old Spokane concrete usually needs aggressive diamond grinding and a fair amount of polyurea in the cracks and joints, which is exactly the prep our system is built on. We evaluate the slab at the free estimate and quote a fixed price. If a slab genuinely cannot be coated, we say so on the spot.
Why did my last epoxy floor peel at the tire spots?
Hot-tire pickup. Tires come off the highway hot, sit on the epoxy, and soften it enough to pull it loose when you back out. It is the classic epoxy failure. Polyaspartic has far higher heat tolerance, so the coating stays put under hot rubber, summer after summer.
Polyaspartic versus epoxy on price?
Close to a quality professional epoxy install, more than a DIY kit, and the better buy across a decade because you only pay once. Spokane residential floors carry a lifetime warranty; commercial spaces carry a 15-year warranty. The measure is free, and the written number is the number.
