Garage cabinets inSandpoint, Idaho.

By the time Schweitzer opens, a Sandpoint garage has stopped being a garage. Boots, boards, poles, and wet layers take the whole room. Our crews run north out of Coeur d'Alene on a weekly route, so a cabinet job up here is a planned trip we slot you into rather than a same-day dispatch.

01 / 05The gear room problem

Half the year, the garage is the ski room.

From Ponderay to Sagle, the garage absorbs whatever the season demands and then keeps it until spring. Storage up here is less about tidiness than about finding one glove at six in the morning.

02 / 05Two series

Built for how you use the garage.

Sandpoint is a standing stop for us, not a special trip, and it is worth knowing how that shapes a cabinet project. Crews head north out of Coeur d'Alene weekly and cover the lake towns on the same rotation. We measure and design on one trip, the run gets built to those measurements, and we set it on a later one. That is a planned sequence rather than an afternoon call-out, and the written quote spells the order out before anything is ordered.

The cabinets come in two series, both made-in-USA melamine. The Garage Vault is pantry-style and floor-to-ceiling with full-height doors, which is what most gear-heavy garages up here want. The Tradesman mixes those pantries with 12 inch deep overheads, base cabinets at 30 inches high, and a slatwall run for hanging tools. Both come in 10, 12, and 14 foot configurations, and both get their color chosen from 18 finishes at the in-person consultation.

  • Made-in-USA melamine, not a flat-pack box you assemble on the garage floor
  • Garage Vault: floor-to-ceiling pantry doors for a clean wall of storage
  • Tradesman: bases, overheads, and a slatwall run for hanging tools
  • 18 colors, matched in person at your design consultation

03 / 05Your project

Designed on site, built to your wall.

The design consultation and the build come first, and the install visit follows, whether the floor is going in with them or already finished.

  1. 01

    Measure and design

We measure the wall, talk through how you actually use the garage, and lay out a 10, 12, or 14 foot run in the series that fits. Colors get picked in person, not off a screen.

  2. 02

Build and finish the floor first

Cabinets are built to your layout while the floor goes in. Doing the coating first means the cabinets land on a finished floor instead of a bare slab.

  3. 03

    Install and hand back

The same crew that coated your floor sets the cabinets, levels the run, and hangs the doors. Cabinet-only installs are welcome too if the floor is already done.

04 / 05Common questions

Garage cabinets questions in Sandpoint.

Do you really come to Sandpoint for cabinet work, or only for floors?

Both, on the same weekly route north out of Coeur d'Alene. Cabinets do mean two visits rather than one, because the run is built to the measurements we take at the design consultation. The measure happens on one trip north and the set happens on a later one, and the written quote lays that sequence out before anything is ordered. Call 208-500-1043 and we will put you on the next run up.

Is a small cabin garage worth your time?

Yes. There is no job minimum on the Sandpoint route, so a single 10 foot run in a place out toward Hope or Sagle is a job we take gladly. Small garages up here often carry more per square foot than anything in town, because everything from firewood to sleds to boat gear ends up in the same room.

Which series makes sense for a ski house?

Most people up here go Vault. Full-height doors on 84 inch pantries mean the gear is put away rather than displayed, which matters in a room that doubles as the entry from the driveway. If you also work on skis, bikes, or a sled in there, the Tradesman gives you a base cabinet work surface and a slatwall run in the same wall.

Our garage floor is already coated. Can we just add cabinets?

Yes. Cabinet-only installs are available and they are common on the north route, because plenty of Sandpoint garages had the floor done on an earlier trip. The run gets set on the finished floor by the same crew that coated it. If the floor is still bare, doing both is the cleaner sequence: coating first, cabinets after it cures.

How do we pick a color if you are only up here weekly?

At the design consultation, which happens on one of those trips, in your garage. There are 18 melamine finishes and the right way to judge them is under your own light, in January, with the floor next to them. It is worth the wait for an in-person look rather than choosing a finish off a screen and living with it.
